Solar eclipse Chicago 09/01/2016 by Pamela Kokott

The Sun is that , 9° Virgo 21, Moon 9° Virgo 21
North node 12° Virgo 43
Jupiter 28° Virgo 17
Mercury Rx 28° Virgo 55
Venus 2° Libra 48
Saturn 10° Sagittarius 04
Mars 14° Sagittarius 09
Pluto Rx 15° Capricorn 05
Neptune Rx 10° Pisces 43
Uranus Rx 24 Aries 04
Highlights for Chicago
-The 9° Virgo 21 Solar eclipse opposite Neptune Rx 10° Pisces 43
-Saturn 10° Sagittarius 04 will simultaneously square both the Sun in Virgo and Neptune in Pisces
-Jupiter 28° Virgo 17 conjunct Mercury 28° Virgo 55
Ascendant is in Leo and trines Saturn and Mars conjunct in Sagittarius.
The eclipse occurs in the second house while opposing Neptune in the eighth house with Saturn and Mars in the fifth house
-North node 12° Virgo 43 conjunct with the Solar Eclipse positive influence

Mundane Astrology Houses
2nd House - revenue from taxes, banks and financial institutions, stock exchange trade,
money markets, and investments
5th House - children and young people the building known as a school, places of amusement, theaters, sporting events, gambling houses, lottery, stock market, how the public generally feels
8th House - appointees of the mayor, governor, taxes and fines, financial organizations government bonds and pensions.

This solar eclipse has 7 planets in mutable signs, the energy is adaptable and uncertain. Mutable topics cover, travel, trade, distribution,
Virgo, accountants, efficiency experts, librarians, those with organizational skills, civil service employees, healthcare, doctors, doctors office, medical professions, and the working class, working classes in general.
Sagittarius, judicial system courts, law, religion, higher education, publishing, sportsman, horses, travel, transportation systems.
Pisces, actors, places of entertainment, bartenders, gasoline and service stations drugs, hospitals, charitable institutions, large organizations, places overflowed with water, rivers, lakes, occupations connected with water.

This solar eclipse will impact the second fifth and eighth house in this eclipse chart.

Saturn seeks control, order and structure Saturn indicates the conservative side of society and governs law, justice, order, systems and prudence
Mars can represent the police and the industrial labor force, but also criminal element and violent people in general

One could simple say, that new taxes are in the future, without looking at an Astrology Chart.  This chart reinforces the financial problems that Chicago is currently having. Revenue from taxes is not adequate to meet the needs of the budget. Large Banks and financial institutions will be at odds with the Mayor and the Governor, to generate new revenue. Perhaps we will see new taxes and fees placed upon the Medical Industry and Healthcare in general. We may see additional fees and/or taxes in the entertainment industry, for example a new gambling tax. (Perhaps on horse racing)
Lets take a look at the houses impacted from a Mundane Astrological point of view;
Jupiter spent an entire year in Virgo, the sign of the accountant. Sun/Moon (The banks and financial institutions) are at odds with the Neptune (Mayor and Governor).
Saturn, (How the public feels), will prevent either party from winning the Tug of War. Because, Saturn is in Sagittarius, the judicial system will decide the outcome. With Pluto the planet of organized crime in Capricorn, the home of Saturn, one can only hope it is a fair outcome. Once Jupiter moves into Libra, the Judicial system will have more of a Focus.
The North Node Square with Saturn will want a resolution.
Review the key words posted above. These areas will be the focus.

Astrology in Real Time: Anthony Weiner

I found this particular example, an uncomfortable subject. For the sake of astrology, I have mentioned it.
Another, Anthony Weiner texting Scandal.
Anthony Weiner was Born September 4th, 1964(no Birth Time)Leo Moon,
Natal Mercury Rx 7° Virgo, Uranus 10° Virgo, Sun 11° Virgo, Pluto 13° Virgo.

Eclipse impact on Royal households: Here are a few events from previous eclipses

 Sep 1, 1997 7:52 PM Sun 9 Virgo 34 Conjunct Moon 9 Virgo 34(SE)
August 31, 1997 – Death of Diana, Princess of Wales in Paris, France; buried at Althorp in Northampton shire, England

Aug 31, 1989 1:45 AM Sun 7 Virgo 48 Conjunct Moon 7 Virgo 48(SE)
August 31, 1989 – Anne, Princess Royal separates from her first husband Mark Phillips

Aug 31, 1970 6:01 PM Sun 8 Virgo 04 Conjunct Moon 8 Virgo 04(SE)
August 31, 1970 – Birth of Rania Al-Yasin, wife of King Abdullah II of Jordan,
in Kuwait City, Kuwait

Birth of Princess Rania Al-Yasin

Queen Rania Al-Yasin, will be a Royal figure to watch, in the coming 6 months.
She was born within the time window of a Solar Eclipse and I would predict under normal circumstances, that she would begin a new level of responsibility.
Without a birth time it is quite difficult to know where this new beginning will occur.

Let's not forget this eclipse has Saturn square. Mars has now moved past Saturn and returns Saturn as General directing the soldier Mars. Mars separating from Saturn will give much relief. Pluto resides in the sign of Capricorn trine the eclipse point and North Node in Virgo. This New Moon Eclipse can indicate a very difficult time for the Queen (Neptune) hopes and wishes will be in conflict with (Saturn) responsibilities. She may dream of beginning a Virgo inspired Healthcare initiative and she is Royalty, so her project would help an entire Kingdom. Perhaps Pluto will help with the Grand Scale of the project and the Kings Blessing. In the coming Solar year, the Queen will have the Virgo TR NNode conjunct the Her Virgo Natal SNode. This is a very important year for Queen Rania-Al-Yasin.

Jupiter In Virgo

Lets take a look at the  Jupiter Ingress Chart:

Jupiter enters Virgo at 6:11 AM Chicago, Illinois
Picture
The Jupiter Ingress chart has a Leo ASC with  a Sun and Mars also in Leo tucked away in the 12th house.
Expect the Virgos in your life to be more determined than usual.

Mars recently entered the sign of Leo on August 8th providing the energy level needed behind the scenes. He joins an Retrograde Venus in Leo still in the 1st house. Venus is within 5 degrees of the ASC and makes a trine to Uranus in Aries creating a very erratic Rx Venus in Leo physical appearance.  Venus is a little unsure of herself and is running back to the Sun in Leo and the Moon in Cancer in the 11th house.  Its all about the group, organizations, family and her partner.  The Sun and Moon are much stronger in these natural placements by sign.  The Cancer Moon makes a trine with Neptune In Pisces in the 7th house of partnership and a loose trine with Brooding Saturn in Scorpio in the 4th house of home and family.

This Trine energy in Water gives us the vision to Imagine (Neptune) Dreams (Moon) with a(Saturn) Structure.  Who can blame Rx Venus in Leo for wanting to go back to a nostalgic past time period. Saturn in Scorpio is making her a little bitter. So it feels comforting and she dreams of those Cancer Moon times of the past.

Venus currently Retrograde does not want to meet with Jupiter in Virgo without her partner, family and friends for support.  The Leo Sun moves along confidently regardless of the sentiment of the Cancer Moon group or a hesitant Rx Venus in Leo.  The Leo Sun is having none of this and moves forward to implement those dreams into actions and goals.

The ingress chart has no air and with the Sun and Mars in Leo in the 12th house, much of that emotional energy may be directed inward. Mercury is strongly placed in the 1st house conjunct Jupiter in Virgo opposing a Pisces Neptune Haze.  Jupiter with Mercury makes a loose trine to Pluto in Capricorn while Pluto opposes the Cancer Moon.

So in my Virgo mind this made me think of a Tea Kettle;  it sits on the stove looking very pretty and old fashioned. We add water, apply heat, and once the water reaches the precise temperature the Tea Kettle will make a loud irritating sound that will continue until the heat is turned down.  That sounds tells us it is  time to poor the hot water into the Tea Cup.  It is very practical and you cannot ignore the Tea Kettle, which is what this Jupiter in Virgo cycle will be like. All of the issues that we dealt with or failed to fix after the Saturn In Virgo transit will get some much needed help.  Capricorn Pluto with Jupiter Virgo is big on organizational projects and it will not leave a single stone unturned during this transit. We may dream of the good old days, but many of the systems in place we don't think about are about to change.  This in turn will make each and every one of us adjust the daily activities of our life.

The Tea Kettle is now boiling! Where is the Tea Kettle in your chart?

Here are a few tiny Examples of regular daily activities (keep in mind Uranus in Aries is about technology moving faster and Jupiter and Mercury in Virgo will apply that technology where it is needed):

  • Perhaps your old bus route has been cancelled and you no longer see your favorite bus driver which forces you to hire Uber. The Uber service picks you up at your doorstep, has an energy efficient car that allows you to use a Car Pool lane, and takes an hour off of your driving time as it transports you through a new neighborhood. Your new car pool friends tells you about a restaurant that is family owned, farm to table fresh, and uses suppliers from a local farming co-op. This action leads to you adapting a healthier diet and a less stressful commute.
  • Your old cell phone is no longer offering an upgrade and you are forced to purchase a new phone loaded with technological marvels. The phone can be hands free, offer internet service, GPS, and an organizational to do list. It replaces your large bulky home computer and a year from now you won't even know how you lived without your new phone.
  • Your favorite store closes and only offers products online. In the case of the store, it may be faster to ship the product directly from a warehouse. The online experience has better descriptions of the products you purchase and video. This will save gas and time, the prices are lower and you can conveniently shop anytime you want.

Do you kind of see how this will work? It is these little organizational things we don't think about that we will be forced to use.  Except with Jupiter it will be all 3 examples at the same time and we won't have a choice.

To make a long story short:
Jupiter in Virgo will change all the details at one time, while helping to preserve some of the Cancer Moon Nostalgia and adding a touch of Rx Venus in Leo Glamour.  Virgo will try to please everyone while Capricorn Pluto, holds tightly to old organizations, and battles with The Leo Sun's Ego, fueled by Mars in Leo both in the 12th house exhibiting a passive aggressive need to be the boss. Saturn in Scorpio quietly disapproves and forces some of the rules to remain.  Uranus in Aries in the 9th house teaches us about new technology quickly and Jupiter with Mercury in Virgo will insist that we now implement the organizational details on a grand scale.

That is the Leo energy wrapped with a determined Virgo.  Welcome to Jupiter in Virgo !

Chinese New Year 中國新年or Spring Festival 春節

Sometimes the most unexpected surprises happen when you travel.
I happened to be fortunate enough to stay at the Bellagio in Las Vegas and this is where I encountered a beautiful free exhibit at the conservatory. At the time of my visit they had constructed a fabulous Chinese garden to celebrate the year of the sheep/goat. I am a Monkey according to Chinese Astrology and quite a curious being. The garden intrigued me and I wondered what does all of this mean ? People spoke about a Chinese New Year and Spring Festival and I thought, it must be a very important if the Bellagio has transformed the entire Casino for the celebration. The conservatory was very close to the entrance of my hotel room and I had no choice but to walk past it each and every time I left my room.
Here are a few photos that inspired me to learn more about the Spring Festival.

Sometimes the universe speaks loud and clear ! Learn Something New !
So when I returned to Chicagoland, I wanted to research about the significance of the garden and this is how I stumbled upon a holiday celebrated by over 4 billion people throughout the world. It is called the Chinese New Year or Spring Festival. After careful research, I discovered the origins of this special Chinese Holiday. The following is a written a summary of an ancient tale that dates back some say 4000 years. Enjoy !

A 4000 year old mythological tale of the creature from Chinese legends named "Nian".

A long time ago, there was an awful monster.  He had a lions mane and a single pointed horn on top of his head. His name was "Nian" meaning Year in Chinese. He lived deep in the sea and slept the entire year. On the last day of the lunar new year, when the cold winter becomes spring, "Nian" would awaken from his slumber. He would come upon the land, devouring crops and the livestock, ravaging nearby villages and harming humans.

Every year this beast would return, and in the past many courageous men had tried to defeat him, but they had perished. So on New Year's Eve, all of the villagers young and old would flee high into the mountains and hide .

Then, one New Year's Eve an old gray-haired man arrived in the village, he carried a bamboo stick with a sack of his belongings and a broken bowl in his hands. The man walked very slowly through the streets asking for food and a place to stay the night. An old woman gave the man steamed dumplings and pleaded with him to flee to the mountaintop for safety.

But the old beggar refused and asked instead if he could stay for one night in the woman's home. He promised that the monster would never come back again. The old woman agreed and fled to the mountaintop.  The old gray-haired man prepared for the arrival of the monster. After midnight the monster approached the village and came to the old woman's home. The monster saw three red banners across the old woman's doorway, and many red fire lanterns the old beggar proceeded to light loud firecrackers and  the monster named "Nian" was so frightened he ran away back into the ocean.

The next day all of the villagers came out of hiding from the mountain. They found the old beggar was still alive. The old man told all of the villagers how to keep the monster from coming back. The old man explained the monster was afraid of three things the color red, fire and the loud noises from the firecrackers. When the old man finished talking, he disappeared. From this day on, every New Year's Eve, the villagers would paste red couplets, let off firecrackers and light candles and stay awake the entire night to prevent being attacked by the monster known as "Nian". This is how these customs came into being and why the Chinese currently celebrate the Spring Festival known as the Chinese New Year. (Please note the tale above has different variations.)

Spring Festival is celebrated in China and other Asian countries. The Festival begins with the first new moon of the lunar calendar and ends on the first full moon of the lunar calendar, 15 days later. (The lunar calendar is based on the cycles of the moon)The last day of the festival is known as The Lantern Festival.

This 15 day festival has many layers of traditions and customs. The holiday is the equivalent of Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter combined.  As we become more accustomed  with Asian culture expect this holiday to become more widely recognized and part of the American Fabric.

An ASTROLOGICAL Rarity: Commentary from Christine Arens:
"The Chinese New Year usually begins on the SECOND NEW MOON FOLLOWING THE WINTER SOLSTICE, which for us western astrologers is usually the New Moon of the sign Aquarius.  However, there IS a possibility of having TWO New Moons in a single sign (such as this year, with TWO New Moons in Aquarius) – just like there is a possibility of having TWO Full Moons in a single sign.  New Moons generally run ‘backward’ through the zodiac, each approximately 1 degree earlier than the previous (more in our summer months, less in winter months); this is usually – but not always – true for Full Moons, due to the eccentricity of the Moon’s orbit around the Earth.  This is akin to having a “Blue Moon” – two Full Moons in one month; this is, however, even more rare – two New or Full Moons in a single zodiacal sign.  The first New/Full Moon would be at 0 degrees, the second at 29 degrees.  So, for 2015 we had this RARE occurrence of Chinese New Year being the THIRD New Moon after the Winter Solstice – because the solstice occurred just 2-1/2 hours before the New Moon at 0:06:29 Capricorn.  The next New Moon was 0:08:55 Aquarius (January 20), followed by this New Moon at 29:59:53 Aquarius!  This is part of the “quirkiness” of a lunar calendar – every so often you have to throw in an “extra” lunar month to keep the calendar on track!"
