Saturn in Virgo

On September 2 the planet Saturn will complete its transit of
the sign of Leo, and enter Virgo where it will remain for the
coming 2-1/2 years. Transit Saturn’s placement in Leo tended
to be a ‘wet-blanket’ for parties and social events
– unless they were serious, structured programs with education
as their primary objective. With transit Saturn’s entry
into Virgo, it now lightens the party-scene, but places focus
on the seriousness of keeping accurate records.
The sign of Virgo is mental and detail-oriented. With Saturn
in Virgo you will need to begin to pay serious attention to records
of all kinds, but especially those you keep on paper. Both Gemini
and Virgo have the planet Mercury as their rulers, but for Gemini
Mercury communicates verbally, while with Virgo Mercury communicates
on paper. Thus with Saturn’s transit here this is an excellent
time to work hard (and long) to reorganize all your papers –
files, bookkeeping and especially notes kept on little ‘scraps’
of paper. Saturn will help you structure all of this so that information
can be found with minimal effort.
Virgo also relates physically to our digestive system, and with
Saturn in Virgo you can reassess your diet. Structure and self-discipline
are the keys to using this transit successfully. New routines
for physical benefit are emphasized, and with the planet Saturn
if you don’t restructure your health regimines, you will
face Saturn’s consequences and be forced to change your
life-style!
Much will depend on where the sign of Virgo is in your horoscope,
and the house cusp(s) that Virgo rules. These areas of your life
will need to be carefully re-evaluated. If you can ‘cut
down’ and ‘restructure’ here, you will be able
to reap the rewards of your efforts. If not, well, Saturn will
force the changes upon you.
1st House
If you have Virgo on your Ascendant this is an excellent time
to begin a new diet. Yes, it may take a while to actually see
the effects of those extra pounds you are slowly shedding. But
the result will bring you increased strength and endurance.
2nd House
Saturn transiting here will force you to reassess how much effort
you make for the income you earn. To be sure you will indeed need
to work hard to make ends meet! One way to accomplish this will
be to cut back on spending, eliminate the ‘frivilous’
and focus on what you need rather than what you want. Try leaving
the credit cards at home and carrying a minimal amount of cash,
and you will find you may actually be able to save something to
set aside for a ‘rainy day’!
3rd House
Transit Saturn here helps you to turn your ideas into reality.
Get those thoughts down on paper! This is an excellent transit
for long-term planning. While authors may find it difficult to
write ‘creatively,’ this is very good energy for writing
step-by-step ‘how to’ manuals, or clarifying policies
and procedures.
4th House
With Saturn transiting your fourth house you living circumstances
will change. A family member may leave home, or an older member
may come to live with you. You may find that business requirements
have you traveling more than usual. Keep family activities minimal,
and focus on the ‘milestone’ events of birthdays and
anniversaries. This is an excellent time to make repairs to your
home, although living conditions could be less than ideal with
construction underway!
5th House
Saturn transiting your fifth house may place the focus on schedules
relating to your children. Scheduling will be necessary to keep
up with soccer practice and piano lessons. You may need to be
more strict in supervising children, whether your own or those
you care for. As for romance, you may find someone older who will
gain a ‘special’ place in your heart. Speculation
could be disastrous – so if you have to ‘bet’
look for an absolutely ‘sure thing.’
6th House
Issues with coworkers could find you with extra responsibilities
to handle. Working conditions could become more cramped or confined,
and your superiors may expect more effort in your performance
at work. This is an excellent time to completely reassess your
overall health. Make the effort to have a complete physical, as
untreated minor medical problems could intensify into ‘chronic’
conditions. Throw out the junk food and focus on healthy eating
– simply reducing portion sizes may be all that is necessary.
Vitamins and nutritional supplements can help rebuild areas where
diet is inadequate to meet your physical requirements.
7th House
With Saturn transiting here your relationships will either solidify
or end with complete separation – there is no ‘in-between.’
Saturn requires complete integrity and dedication, and if your
relationship is based on these qualities you may find your ‘bonds’
with others become more secure. If you are in a romantic relationship,
this transit can bring a marriage, especially if your partner
is older or more experienced than you. If you are in a marriage
that is already precarious, Saturn could bring separation and
divorce. But whatever ties are made or dissolved, the results
will be ‘permanent.’
8th House
Use Saturn’s transit here to focus on your long-term goals
for retirement. This would be a time to re-evaluate your investments,
and look for financial security rather than income and appreciation.
Saturn would relate to stocks and securities relating to business,
especially heavy industry. With this placement of Saturn your
spouse’s income may suffer, and as a result you may need
to draw on savings to get by. But if you must dip into savings,
do so sparingly.
9th House
Saturn here can indicate a desire to return to school to learn
more to advance your professional career. Things learned during
this transit can bring advancements – or even a completely
new career – by the time Saturn is ready to leave Virgo
in October 2009. With this transit travel is likely to be related
to business and educational pursuits rather than leisure and entertainment.
You may also find new insight and personal growth by re-evaluating
your spiritual beliefs.
10th House
If you have worked hard, now is the time you will reap the rewards
for your sustained efforts. Saturn’s placement here can
also indicate a new boss, one who will make increasing demands
on your time and effort. Additional responsibilities relating
to your career can also bring changes in your home life. It is
important to live up to your career responsibilities now, or you
may find yourself out of a job.
11th House
Transit Saturn here can find you being drawn into a ‘circle’
of friends who have great knowledge and experience. You may also
find yourself becoming increasingly involved with organizations
to which you belong. In fact, this is an excellent period for
you to become more active in professional groups related to your
business and career. With this placement you may not always get
what you want, but you can be sure you will always have what you
need.
12th House
With Saturn’s transit through your twelfth house you will
find your best efforts are made when working quietly alone –
probably ‘burning the midnight oil’… This transit
focuses on isolation and confinement, and if you have not lived
up to your duties – both to yourself and others –
such confinement could be imposed on you. If you have been negligent
in handling your health issues, hospitalization could be required.
On a more positive note, working in an institutional setting –
such as a hospital – could actually bring benefits.
It is important to remember that the sign of Virgo relates to
‘details,’ and with Saturn’s transit through
Virgo if you take care of the ‘little things’ the
‘big things’ will take care of themselves. The planet
Saturn requires effort and integrity, and so long as you work
according to the rules you will have fewer problems to interfere
with your efforts.
Saturn is an Earth planet, relating to the ‘real’
world, the tangible, physical things around us. And with Saturn
in an Earth sign, this need to deal with the ‘physical’
world takes on increased significance. This is a transit where
your efforts can produce visible results. However, with the sign
of Virgo, you may feel you are only accomplishing ‘small’
things. Keep in mind, however, that the cumulative effect of your
many small successes will only be visible when Saturn enters Libra
in October 2009. Remember too that Saturn is exalted in the sign
of Libra, and your small success can lead to significant recognition
in 2010 and beyond.
